Yogi Ramsuratkumar attested to the special power embedded in photographs of persons of high spiritual realization. The guru did not need to still be in the body for the image to convey the power of the guru?s blessing. Yogi Ramsuratkumar was fond of the Bengali Krishna Bhakta Pagal Haranath [1865?1927], another saint who advocated constant repetition of God?s Name. Commenting to a visiting devotee, Haragopal Sepuri, on Haranath?s image, Yogi Ramsuratkumar said that it was not a mere photograph but Pagal Haranath himself, and thus an abundant source of blessings.

The photographs of Yogi Ramsuratkumar presented in this book date from the early 1960s shortly after he arrived in Tiruvannamalai up until his taking Samadhi in 2001. They have been meticulously restored, and are each accompanied with direct, unedited quotes from the Beggar Saint. These photos capture various phases of his lila in Tiruvannamalai from an enigmatic, wandering, homeless life to that of a widely revered Mahatma in a large ashram. It is remarkable to consider how fortunate we are that a person of Yogi Ramsuratkumar?s spiritual stature was willing to allow portraits of himself to be taken.

Each photograph with unique mudras of the hands and gestures of the body reveal and display the profound blessings of a man who has realized in fullness, and for long years, his oneness with the Divine. They are images to be lingered over, caressed with the eye and contemplated, for they are the gift of a direct link to Yogi Ramsuratkumar's eternal presence . . . now.
