Philippe Coupey
Philippe Coupey (Rei Ryu Philippe Coupey) is an American
who’s been living in Paris for over three decades. Educated
at the Sorbonne, he is a writer, and has been for many years
a disciple of the Japanese master, Taisen Deshimaru, who
brought Zen to Europe. Coupey is both a monk and master
living alone in the city, continuing the daily practice he
was taught. He directs a large European community of monks
and nuns. He is a member and officer of the International
Zen Association, AZI.
