Few
people have the time to devote exclusively to one martial art,
with one master, in one place. The practice of Kishido is
designed to enable people to practice the essential principles
common to all martial traditions anywhere and at any time.
How
can martial arts principles be communicated to busy people? How
can extremely competent people who just don’t have the time to
devote years to a single martial art achieve mastery? This was
the dilemma faced by Peter Hobart’s teacher, a Japanese man he
refers to only as “Master.” What the “Master” shared with his
Western students was the essence of all traditions: Kishido -
The Way of the English Knight.
By focusing on Right Action, the Power of One, or the principle
of Sword and Brush, anyone can build their skill and insight as
they practice their art, at work, or even while traveling. This
distinguishes Kishido from other martial traditions, such as
Aikido or Judo, because Kishido unites many influences in
one art.
