Shahram T. Shiva, born to a family of Persian poets in
Mashhad, Khorasan Province (the center of Sufism in Iran),
has been a long-time practitioner of meditation and student
of Eastern mystical traditions. His translations of Persian
Sufi poetry have been incorporated in Two Suns Rising
(J. Star-Bantam, 1991). He is the co-author of A Garden
Beyond
Paradise,
The Mystical Poetry of Rumi
(Bantam Books, 1992). Mr. Shiva has presented his work in
readings at The Smithsonian Institute, Yale, Columbia, and
New York University, and in frequent workshops and classical
music/poetry programs through the New York Open Center. He
lives in New York City.
